Council Activities: We are still in effect responding to incidents as and when they arise but we are also progressing the debriefs and the investigations as to why properties flooded (section 19 investigations). Grant Administration: We have got the information and processes in place in relation to Grants for flooded properties. Garden waste collections will resume as planned on Tuesday 9 January 2024. This two-week period will free up more drivers and operatives to ensure your rubbish, recycling and food waste service continues as scheduled throughout the busy Christmas period and into the New Year. Up to 3 extra open-topped bags of garden waste will be collected on your first scheduled garden waste collection from Tuesday 9 January 2024. We cannot collect from Hippo or tonnage bags. If you are a subscriber to the garden waste collection service you can get your real Christmas tree collected. Please put it out with your garden waste bin for collection between Tuesday 9 January 2024 until Friday 2 February 2024. Trees over 4 ft must be cut in half. Please remove all lights, decorations and pots. If you do not subscribe you can take your Christmas tree to one of our household waste recycling centres. We’re carrying out essential repairs to the Welford viaduct which takes the M4 over Rood Hill and the river Lambourn near Easton to keep the structure safe and secure.
We’ll be doing some concrete repairs, replacing the bridge joints, waterproofing and upgrading the safety barrier. During this time, there will be temporary traffic lights underneath the viaduct on Rood Hill. We will also need to close the road underneath the motorway for a few nights at the start and end of our programme to carry out some pre-work checks. Closure information
